As an artist, I have been creating many pieces that connects to animals. Last year, I did many paintings and sculptures of my cats and how they have been impacting us from the past and now. This year, I have continued to work with animals but this time, I have been creating homes for them and placing them outside.
For this exhibition, I have decided to focus on the word: protection. What are the things that you see immediately after you think of the word protection? Is it wings? Is it nests? Or is it something else? This is what I see when I encounter the word and I thought that it would be interesting to continue to create homes and other pieces that signify protection.

'Let There Be Light', 2019
‘Let There Be Light’ is about seeing God and the stages in life where our life is good (light) and where our life is rough (dark). The quote (Luke 11:34-35) illustrates about the health of your eyes but metaphorically, the quote asks us how clear we see God. Also, I added the cats to play with scale and to make us think how vulnerable and exposed we are and how much we need God to protect us. The soundtrack comes from The Legend of Zelda and it is called “Great Fairy’s Fountain Theme”.

Note: Although I have adjusted the speed and tone of the sound, I do not own the soundtrack nor take any credit from it. I just wanted to make the piece give a magical feel to the audience and the song was the correct soundtrack for my message. All credit goes to Koji Kondo and Nintendo.
